Sam started his career in 1972 with Graybar Electric in Charlotte, NC. He became an Industrial Outside salesperson in 1974 in Wilmington, NC. In 1978, he left Graybar and joined a small manufacturers’ rep firm in the Carolinas, and took over Electra-Tek Carolinas in 1982 when the owner retired. Sam based his Company on Industrial products and grew the company to 12 employees until 2004. At that time, Electra-Tek merged with a large Construction focused agency, TF Farmer Co. and Sam became its’ Executive VP of Sales. Sam served on the NEMRA Board Of Directors, and served as Chairman of NEMRA in 2003/2004. In 2007, after the death of Lee Guard, President, Sam took over as President of TF Farmer and changed to name of the Company to Farmer Electrical Sales, Inc. The Company remains today a successful blended firm of Construction and Industrial lines.
Sam is married to Laura and enjoys travel, golf, sailing, scuba diving, and writing song lyrics. Sam and Laura have 3 daughters and 5 Grandchildren.
